Civil Wedding Ceremonies
Civil Wedding Ceremonies are perfect for couples who want to celebrate their entire wedding in one venue and who are more modern and secular in their views. A civil wedding also allows you to personalise your ceremony within the legal framework.
It’s a great idea to include readings, songs or music, especially to include your special guests. Just remember not to include anything that’s religious – eg hymns or readings from the Bible. Remember to discuss your requirements with the registrar to make sure your wedding ceremony will comply legally.
You will also need to choose 2 witnesses who will sign the marriage register with both of you.
It is possible to arrange a religious wedding blessing to take place after a civil ceremony if this is important to you.
We don’t charge any extra for hosting your ceremony at Maidens Barn but there are fees due to the Chelmsford District Council’s local Registrar.
The fees applicable for civil weddings at an approved premises in Essex can be found here.
